Join us for an memorable weekend of fishing and fun at the 2023 LIBBA Democrat Point Family Weekend Fishing Contest! This exciting event, which was postponed from June and due to popular demand, is now taking place from July 21th to July 23th.
Get ready to cast your lines and compete for fantastic prizes while enjoying the beautiful Democrat Point Beach. Here are the contest rules you need to know:
Contest Duration: The fishing contest kicks off at 6 pm on Friday July 21th, and concludes at 12 noon on Sunday, July 23th.
Submitting Entries: There will be Weigh Masters on the beach (look for magnetic sign "LIBBA Weigh Master") or simply post a photo of your catch on Facebook with your LIBBA member number and the "color of the day." Don't forget to include your LIBBA number in the post! If you're not on Facebook, no worries. You can find a Weigh Master on Demo or send your entry to LIBBA President Cooky via phone at 516.859.5266 or email at libbapresident@gmail.com.
Surf Fishing Only: This is an exclusive surf fishing contest held at Democrat Point Beach. So, bring your surfcasting skills and enjoy the thrill of reeling in the big ones from the shore!
Eligible Fish: Largest Fish Striped Bass or Bluefish. Let's see what remarkable outcome you can reel in!
Daily Entry Limit: You can enter one fish per day. Remember to include your LIBBA number in all your posts.
If using Facebook use you'll need Color of the Day: Each day, we'll announce the "color of the day" on Facebook starting Friday at 6 pm. You can use the previous day's color until the new one is posted at Sat/Sun at 9 am. It could be anything from a hat, a t-shirt, or even a piece of paper!
Who Can Participate: This contest is open to all current paid-up LIBBA members, along with their spouse/partner, children, and grandchildren under 18 years old. Make sure your dues are paid by Thursday, July 20th, 2023, to join in the excitement.
Largest Fish wins for each of the 4 categories.
Category Adult: winner will receive a $100 gift card (or $125 LIBBA merchandise)
Category Child winner will receive a $50 gift card (or $75 LIBBA merchandise).
Category Release will receive a $50 gift card (or $75 LIBBA merchandise) for member who catches and releases the largest striped bass over 31". Conservation matters!
Prizes: Exciting prizes await the winners! We will be awarding gift cards for Long Island tackle shops, as purchased by LIBBA. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can choose the equivalent value in LIBBA merchandise.
LIBBA Hot Dogs will be served on Saturday Night so Look for Cooky's Class Super C "Big Blue" Motor Home or Dino's Class A "Game On" Winnebago during the day in advance for LIBBA Dogs Location.
