Courtesy Patrol
‘Keepers of the Beach’ The LIBBA Courtesy
Patrol was formed many years ago as LIBBA’s eyes and
ears on the beach. Their primary mission is to educate beach
vehicle operators of the rules of the road and proper and
safe vehicle operation while on the beach. Their role also
includes policing for unsafe conditions and serve as event
coordinators.
Today the LIBBA folks who display the Courtesy Patrol Blue
Plate are LIBBA’s official representatives on the beach.
They are responsible for watching over the beaches and reporting
unsafe activities and conditions. The Courtesy Patrol is also
LIBBA’s coordinators and host for scheduled events such
as the annual grass plantings, beach cleanup and beach driving
classes. In times of a local or natural emergency they can
be called to furnish support and transport to local and state
agencies. These volunteers help to insure that your venture
onto the beach is an enjoyable and safe outing.
All Courtesy Patrol functions fall under the jurisdiction
of the Courtesy Patrol Director

NY State Parks enforcing the rules
We have received a few calls from members and non members
about their State 4 x 4 permit being taken away. After talking
with Park mangers and the State Police they are going to do
a lot more random checks this year. In the first month permits
were pulled for driving over dunes, no equipment, and driving
under the influence.
Read your permit and follow the rules and regulations. If
your permit is pulled you cannot get another for one year.
That means if you lose your permit the first of May 2009,
you would not be able to get another till after Labor Day
2010.
Highlights
State 4x4 vehicle access opens April 1st.
Fall storm washout erosion on Democrat point appears to be
repairing itself.
No solution yet on erosion to access road on back side to
Democrat Point.
Limited parking is available at underneath the north side
of the Captree Drawbridge.
