LIBBA CATCH & RELEASE TOURNAMENT RETURNS FOR 2023


2023 4th ANNUAL CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNAMENT –

FRIDAY JUNE 2, 5 PM – SUNDAY JUNE 4, 12 NOON


You must submit your LIBBA weight slip to a LIBBA Weigh Master at the conclusion of this event


LIBBA Catch & Release Rules


LIBBA Weigh Masters will be present during the derby, and will be designated by a sign on their vehicle.  Additionally they will be present at the end of the contest at the designated beach.  All weight slips for entering fish must be turned in to him/her at this time.


1. This is a striped bass and bluefish contest.


2. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for striped bass and bluefish.  One prize, per

participant, per species is allowed in this contest.


3. To enter a fish, you must be a current dues paid member as of the day prior to the start of the tournament.


4. All fish entered must be witnessed by another LIBBA member or by a LIBBA Weigh Master on the beach.


5. All entries must be on a LIBBA WEIGHT SLIP and filled out completely. Your name and LIBBA # and the name and LIBBA # of the person witnessing the fish must be clearly legible.


6. Fish must be weighed in by a LIBBA Weigh Master, or on a scale certified for use in the New York State surf fishing contest.

7. All weight slips must be turned in to a LIBBA Weigh Master within one (1) hour of ending time of the tournament. Sunday June 4, @ 1 PM


8. Minimum weight for bluefish is 5 Lb., striped bass: 32" or 10 pounds.


9. A fish entered must be ½ pound or heavier to replace an existing prize contender.  An entry less than ½ pound heavier shall be deemed a tie.


10. In the event of a tie, the entry weighed in first will receive the higher place prize.


11. All fish must be hooked and landed from the beach, jetty, surf, bank or pier within contest’s boundaries.


12. Fish may be gutted at discretion of the LIBBA Weigh Master.


13. The LIBBA Fishing Contest Chairman reserves the right to be solely responsible for judging. In case of disputed entries, the LIBBA Board of Directors reserves the right to disqualify entries.

LIBBA CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNAMENT WINNERS WILL BE MAILED THEIR PRIZES AT AFTER CONFIRMATION OF THEIR MEMBERSHIP STATUS.
